Birch Creek Energy, a utility-scale solar and storage developer, is looking to expand its development team to complement its growing pipeline of projects. Founded in 2019, Birch Creek has developed and placed in-service 32 projects representing 872MW. With an active pipeline of over 13GW, Birch Creek is seeking a Project Development Coordinator to support development of its existing pipeline and continue to add to it.
The Role
We’re looking for a highly motivated Development Project Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will support the Greenfield Development Team in delivering utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. You’ll be responsible for coordinating and documenting development activities. Projects will be located across multiple geographies. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and have a passion for solving complex problems. The position can be fully remote however working several days a week in our St. Louis headquarters is preferred. Essential functions/responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating with internal project developers and subject matter guides for the successful and timely execution of key development deliverables, including:
- Performing site diligence by reviewing environmental, utility, and other land features
- Managing landowner relationships, including sending notices and payments.
- Completing project permitting by creating and submitting zoning applications, handling external consultants, and creating permitting site plans
- Navigating the interconnection process of submitting a request or application and working with the applicable utility through necessary technical studies
- Onboarding new projects into data systems. Entering and maintaining key project data.
- Maintaining projections of upcoming payments, project budgets, and cash forecasts
- Tracking interface with external stakeholders including landowners, consultants, utilities, permitting authorities, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Environmental, Business, or Engineering-related fields preferred
- 1-4 years of experience in renewable energy, project management, or environmental studies is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required. Smartsheets experience greatly preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience working with multiple stakeholders preferred.
- Experience working with legal documents, leases, LLC company documents preferred.
- Confident in taking the initiative to figure things out, but also willing to ask questions when there are roadblocks.
